A Letter From the Principal...

January 18, 2018

Dear St. Constance School Families,

All are cordially invited to join us for the 10:30 a.m. Family Mass on Sunday, January 28th as we celebrate the start of Catholic Schools Week. This year’s theme is Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed. There will be a reception immediately following the Liturgy in Borowczyk Hall and an Open House of the School until 1:00 p.m. Our school will be featuring Special Exhibits of Science Projects, History Fair, Invention Convention, Primary Grade displays, and our newest exhibit, Sweet Home Chicago.

St. Constance School will celebrate Catholic Schools Week January 28- February 2. Throughout the week we will be honoring our students, teachers, volunteers, and parishioners. Enclosed, please find specific information regarding daily activities. I would like to acknowledge and thank our committee members, Sr. Kinga Hoffmann and Mrs. Kelly Mikrut for organizing the daily events for us. I would also like to extend a note of appreciation to the Home and School Association for sponsoring the very popular Dance-A-Thon and special luncheon to honor our faculty/staff, and to the Sports Association for hosting the Family Mass Reception for us. Please note that students will be out of uniform on Monday, January 29th for Student Appreciation Day, and again on Friday, February 2nd for the Dance-A-Thon. Appropriate attire is expected on both days.

Enclosed in today’s folder please find your child’s Mid-Trimester Report for students in grades 1-8. Please review these and return a signed copy to your child’s homeroom teacher by next Tuesday, January 23rd.

As I am aware that you have been receiving many communications regarding the Tax Credit Scholarship opportunity, this is to remind you that the Big Shoulders SGO will begin accepting applications next week Monday, January 22, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. I encourage our school families to apply if applicable. Please keep in mind that this is a first come, first served program, so your application needs to be submitted in a very timely manner. The Empower Illinois SGO has postponed their application window to January 31, 2018 beginning at 12:00 p.m. As mentioned, yes, you are able to apply to multiple SGO sites. For further assistance, please contact our Marketing Director, Mrs. Maria Montes De Oca at mmontesdeoca@stconstanceschool.org or contact the school office at 773-283-2311.

Also included in today’s folder are Class Composites for those students that preordered one from Van Gogh Photographers. Please note that student Spring Pictures will be taken on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. Please refer to the information flyer included in today’s correspondence regarding sibling pictures. This will be a free out of uniform day for the students.

All are invited to our annual Science Fair Viewing and Awards Presentation next Wednesday, January 24, 2018 beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Borowczyk Hall. All guests are asked to enter via the Ainslie Street doors.

Thank you again to the St. Constance Holy Name Society for yet another donation in the amount of $125.00 for our Angel Program. Our sincerest thanks and gratitude for your generosity.

Thank you to all who stopped by for a delicious pancake breakfast hosted by the St. Constance Holy Name Society and School Board last month. A net profit of $315.00 was earned from this event.

Mark your calendars and join us at the very popular Valentine’s Dinner Dance on Saturday, February 10, 2018. Once again we are focusing on a family event which will be held in our Handzel Center Gymnasium. Tickets are available for purchase after Masses in Borowczyk Hall beginning January 28th or currently in the School Office for your convenience. Enjoy a delightful evening out with family and friends while supporting our school. It would be wonderful to have all of our school families, faculty, staff, and friends join us for our big event!

Please make sure to secure the evening of Saturday, April 21, 2018 for the Taste of Poland Dinner Dance for the 21 and over crowd. Please watch for further details.

Parents, I ask your assistance in the following matters. Many children are coming to school not in compliance with the uniform dress code. Please review the dress code in the Parent -Student Handbook for clarification. In addition, more and more children are becoming excessively tardy. This behavior is becoming habitual for some. I am asking for your help in ensuring that your child is dressed both appropriately and arrive to school in a timely manner for the 8:00 a.m. start of the school day. Thank you for your cooperation.

Have a pleasant weekend.

Sincerely,

Eva M. Panczyk
Principal
