A Letter From the Principal...

May 18, 2017

Dear St. Constance School Families,

All are invited to join our school children at the 8:00 a.m. Parish Liturgy next Wednesday, May 24th.

This is to remind you that the final day of Hot Lunch Service for this current school year will be Thursday, June 1, 2017. Please make sure that your child brings a lunch from home for the remainder of the school year.

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank our school’s FSP coordinator, Mrs. Kathy Diaz. We are grateful for her ongoing dedication and commitment to the lunch program. Our gratitude is also extended to our Moderator, Ms. Mary Batorski and her wonderful team: Mr. Les Kapturski, Mrs. Josephine Restivo, Ms. Linda Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Leyva, teachers, our student helpers, and to all our volunteers who assist us with the lunch program. We couldn’t do it without you! Please consider assisting us for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year.

Congratulations to the Class of 2017 who will be celebrating next Thursday evening, May 25, 2017 with their Graduation Dinner Dance. Thank you to Mr. Lind, Ms. Blecka, Ms. LeDuc, Ms. Odrobina, and the parent committee who ensured that this event would be special for all. This is a reminder that the 8th grade is excused from class on Thursday, May 25, 2017 @ 12:05 p.m. There will be no classes for the 8th grade students on Friday, May 26, 2017. Students in grades PreS-7 will have regularly scheduled classes.

For those of you participating in the Extended Day Program, please be advised that the final day of the After Care Program for this year will be on Thursday, June 8, 2017, and the final day of the Before Care Program will be on Friday, June 9, 2017. Please plan accordingly.

This is to remind you that Book Fees for the 2017-2018 school year are due tomorrow, May 19, 2017. Please submit your payment by tomorrow if you haven’t already done so.

This is also a reminder that registration for the 2017-2018 school year is now significantly past due. I ask that you please do so, as grant opportunities, etc. are based on student enrollment figures.

This is to remind you that the final day to wear the school uniform will be on Friday, June 2nd. Children should dress appropriately reflecting the activity of the day, such as Mass attendance days, field trips, picnics, etc. All students should dress nicely for the Closing of the Year Liturgy on Friday, June 9th.

Next Thursday, May 25th, the Student Council will be campaigning for the 2017-2018 offices. Student Council Speeches and Elections will take place on Friday, May 26, 2017 beginning at 12:30 p.m. in Borowczyk Hall. Best wishes to all our candidates.

Enclosed in today’s folder please find the 2017 School Belles Uniform Guide. Please place your orders early to ensure timely delivery.

As you may have already noticed and received communication, People’s Gas Company has begun work in the vicinity of Ainslie/Menard, followed by Strong/Menard as of today. As this will definitely cause further difficulty and congestion to the traffic flow in the area, I ask for everyone’s cooperation and patience. It is highly recommended that you avoid these intersections if at all possible, as there will be minimal access. Although the road will not be totally closed, there may be only 1 lane access and/or a flagger stopping traffic for certain intervals of time. It is suggested to arrive to school from the west and dismiss heading west also for the duration of the project. This stage of the work is anticipated to be completed by the end of June. Followed by the Gas Company work, the city will be following with significant sewer work. As we do not have specifics on this project as this time, it is believed to take place for the duration of the summer. Please note that we did attempt to delay the projects until after school let out, but it was not feasible to do so.

I am pleased to inform you that the school made a profit of $22,112.77 from its recent 100th Anniversary Gala. The Grand Prize winners, Mr. and Mrs. Gerke have made a generous donation back to the school towards the Reading Curriculum. We are grateful to them both. As we conclude our 100th anniversary year of St. Constance School, the children will be celebrating with a birthday party tomorrow, immediately following the lunch period beginning at 12:05 p.m. in Borowczyk Hall. There will be a short video presentation, along with the sharing of a birthday cake. All are welcome to join us.

Per the school calendar, tomorrow is also a scheduled Special Lunch and Raffle Day. Please send a lunch from home if you did not preorder a special lunch for your child. Please note there will be no regular FSP lunch service provided.

On behalf of the entire faculty and staff, I would like to thank both the Pilch and Rzepka families for the delicious treats in honor of Teacher Appreciation. They were enjoyed by all of us!
